You Worked Hard to Build It. Could One Loss Take It Away?
What you've spent years building deserves more than hope that nothing goes wrong.
Good Sunday morning,
Let me ask you something.
How many years have you spent building what you have today?
Maybe it's a business you started with very little money.
Maybe it's a home you worked hard to purchase.
Maybe it's a church, an organization, or a financial foundation you hope to leave to your children and grandchildren.
Whatever it is, building something meaningful requires sacrifice, discipline, patience, and faith.
But here's a question many people never stop to consider:
What would happen if something threatened everything you've worked so hard to build?
The Risk We Don't Always See
After nearly 30 years in the insurance and financial services industry, I've learned something important.
People often spend more time building their assets than protecting them.
They purchase property, expand businesses, hire employees, and invest in their futures.
But they don't always review the risks that could threaten those accomplishments.
A serious lawsuit, unexpected property loss, prolonged business interruption, or other financial setback can change everything.
And sometimes, the greatest danger isn't the risk we recognize.
It's the risk we never prepared for.
The Protection Principle
Protection is not simply about what you own. It's about what you refuse to leave vulnerable.
A strong protection strategy begins with understanding three things:
What matters most? Identify the people, property, income, and responsibilities you need to protect.
What could go wrong? Consider the events that could interrupt your business, damage your assets, or create financial hardship.
What have you done to prepare? Review your insurance coverage, emergency savings, important documents, and continuity plans.
Insurance is one important tool, but preparation must go beyond the policy itself.
A Thought for This Sunday
Proverbs 27:12 reminds us that a prudent person recognizes danger and takes precautions.
That principle applies to our families, our businesses, and our financial responsibilities.
Wisdom doesn't require us to live in fear.
It calls us to prepare.
And preparation is one way we demonstrate responsible stewardship over what we've been entrusted with.
Your Protection Action This Week
Take ten minutes today and ask yourself:
If a serious loss happened tomorrow, what would I be most concerned about losing?
Your answer may reveal the first area of your protection plan that deserves attention.
You don't have to solve everything today.
But you can begin by identifying what matters most.
Let's Keep the Conversation Going
